Can you count the stars?
Crocheted fingerless gloves. I made these a long time ago – I’m really behind in my blog posts 😀 But it’s autumn either way, so this is the perfect time to make a post about these.
I chose to use two cotton-acrylic yarns – one of very autumn-like colours, and one sky-blue one – and I believe I used a 3.5mm hook (it was a while ago though so I’m not sure 😛 ). The pattern is by Hilah Kellner: the Star Stitch Hand Warmers. It’s not a very complicated pattern, as long as you master the star stitch. The moment I discovered this stitch I knew I had to use it right away, so I looked for an appropriate pattern. It’s not necessarily an easy stitch to understand in the beginning with its two alternating rows process, but once you’ve done a few couple of rows it starts to go smoothly.
The only problem is the tension. I have a tendency to make my stitches too tight, and that’s what happened with the first glove; it’s so tight it’s a bit uncomfortable to wear too long. For the second one I made I was careful with the tension of the yarn, and it turned out perfect.
The nice thing about these fingerless gloves is that they can be used on both left and right hands, so I can change the tight glove to the other hand every thirty minutes or so 😀 And when you make them you can choose to make them as long or as short as you want – I like long gloves so I can fit them under the sleeves of my coat, but if you want them to stop above your wrist you just have to make fewer rows of the star stitch.
A kind of half-fail given one of them doesn’t fit me great, but I wear them nonetheless 😉 They’re pretty either way 😀

Pouvez-vous compter les étoiles ?
Des mitaines en crochet. Je les ai faites il y a bien longtemps – j’ai beaucoup de retard avec mes articles de blog 😀 Mais dans tous les cas c’est l’automne, donc c’est l’occasion parfaite de parler de ces mitaines.
J’ai choisi deux fils en coton-acrylique – un avec des couleurs très automnales, et un bleu ciel – et il me semble que j’avais utilisé un crochet 3.5mm (mais c’était il y a un moment alors je ne suis pas sûre 😛 ). Le patron est par Hilah Kellner : Star Stitch Hand Warmers. Ce n’est pas un patron très compliqué, tant que vous connaissez le point étoile. L’instant que j’ai découvert ce point de crochet il fallait que je l’utilise tout de suite, donc j’ai cherché un patron approprié. Ce n’est pas forcément un point de crochet facile à comprendre du premier coup avec ses deux rangs différents qui s’alternent, mais une fois que vous avez fait quelques rangs ça coule de source.
Le seul problème est la tension. J’ai tendance à faire des mailles trop serrées et c’est ce qui s’est passé avec la première mitaine : c’est tellement serré que ça devient un peu inconfortable quand on la porte trop longtemps. Pour la deuxième j’ai fait bien attention à la tension du fil, et celle-là est parfaite.
Ce qui est bien avec ces mitaines c’est qu’elles peuvent être utilisées tout aussi bien pour la main gauche que la main droite, donc je peux changer la mitaine trop serrée de main toute les demi-heures 😀 Et quand vous les crochetez vous pouvez choisir la longueur que vous voulez – moi j’aime des mitaines longues pour que je puisse les glisser dans les manches de mon manteau, mais si vous voulez qu’elles s’arrêtent au niveau du poignet il suffit de faire des rangs de point d’étoile en moins.
Un peu un demi fail vu que l’une des mitaines est trop serrée, mais je les porte quand même 😉 Elles sont jolies quoi qu’il arrive 😀
